Abstract
To identify plant parasitic and free-living nematodes fauna in grassland of Khakibeig area of Divandarreh, Kordestan province, several soil samples were collected during 2013-2014. The nematodes were extracted, fixed and transferred to pure glycerin using common extracting methods. Permanent microscopic slides were prepared. The morphological and morphometric characters of the nematodes were evaluated using light microscopy. One population belonging to the genus Coomansinema was recovered. According to available literature, the genus Coomansinema is a new report for Iran’s nematode fauna. It is mainly characterized by the shape of the odontostyle (slightly sinuate), not sclerotized labial region, second pair of ventrosublateral pharyngeal glands nuclei located at about the middle of the expanded part of esophagus, sexual dimorphism in tail shape, female tail first rounded, then with a short to long projection and male tail short conoid with rounded terminus. This population of Coomansinema could be identified by having truncate and continuous lip region with completely amalgamated lips, guiding ring single, anteriorly located second pair of pharyngeal glands nuclei, longitudinal vulva and absence of males. The population is distinguished from C. taiwanense by shorter body (0.93-1.32 vs 1.50-1.88 mm), lower lip region diameter (12.5-14.5 vs 17-19 μm), shorter odontostyle (14-16 vs 26-28 μm), esophagus (246-317 vs 406-470 μm) and pharyngeal expansion (95-136 vs 176-210 μm).
